National Health System records evolution - Official

Luanda - The secretary of State for Health, Carlos Alberto Masseca, said Thursday in Luanda that the country’s National Health System has scored a great evolution over the last few years, with  the hospitals offering better quality service.


The official was speaking to journalists about the works of the 62nd session of the African Regional Committee of the World Health Organisation (WHO/Afro) taking place in Luanda since Monday.


According to the official, the services include primary healthcare that involves low and high degrees of complextity.


Carlos Aberto Masseca said that the the national territory is currently equipped to handle cases of heart surgery.


On the other hand, the official stated that the meeting is assessing the whole process of fight against malaria in the nine countries attendeing the event, seeking a number of measures for the times ahead.


Carlos Masseca stated that statisitic data show a substantial drop in malaria prevalence in the country, despite being the main cause of death.


"Malaria is not fought with measures of diagonosis and treatment alone, but with prevention and improvement to the environment sanitation,” he stated.


He also called for the participation of all the professionals and the whole society in the quest for a better future of the sector.
