Pregnant women join HIV/AIDS test

Caxito – At least 642 pregnant women in the northern province of Bengo underwent HIV/AIDS test during prenatal consults at the Maternal and Child Centre of Mabubas, municipality of Dande, in 2011, to learn their HIV status and to avoid complications during birth.

The information was released to ANGOP by the director of the health unit, Albertina Menezes, adding the registration of eight positive cases.

The director stressed having registered a decrease from the previous period, because some pregnant women abstain in use of the services of maternal and child centre.

According to the official during the period under review, the centre of Mabubas made 111 deliveries, with an equal number of live births, while 1,149 pregnant women were vaccinated against tetanus.
