Luanda - Malaria continue being the number one killer in Angola, despite dropping by 400,000 cases countrywide, said Thursday the assistant coordinator of National Malaria Control Programme.
Nilton Saraiva was speaking to Angop in the light of World Health Day, on 7 April.
According to Nilton Saraiva, all the country is endemic of disease, with the intensity of variable transmission, predominantly in hyper endemic areas.
The official of National Malaria Control Programme admitted the existence of actions intended to combat the parasite.
He referred to the change of behaviour of people resident in communities as well as distribution of mosquito-nets for universal coverage.
The source also noted that the emerging of resistance phenomenon worry the international organisations and local institutions, becoming the main hindrance for the effective combat of the disease.
