Over 6,000 animals vaccinated against rabies


Ondjiva – At least 6,466 animals namely dogs, cates and monkeys were vaccinated against rabies, from January to August this year, in southern Cunene province, under the vaccination campaign against rabies.

 
The fact was revealed this Wednesday to Angop by the chief of the veterinary services in Cunene, João Estêvão Kamalanga, who added that among this number there were 5,887 dogs, 555 cats and 24 apes, in the six districts of the province.

 
The source said that there have been registered 30 cases of animal bites, without claiming any death.


According to statistics information from the veterinary services in Cunene were vaccinated, in 2009, 20,912 animals, such as dogs, cats and monkeys, in the districts of Namacunde, Cuvelai, Curoca, Ombadja, Kwanhama and Kahama.
