Over 3,000 children to be immunised against polio in Bengo

Caxito – At least 3,120 children under five years old will be vaccinated from July to December, in northern Bengo Province, in light of the Emergency Programme to eradicate Polio in the region, ANGOP has learnt Monday from an official source.

 

According to the provincial supervisor of the Broad Vaccination Programme (PAV) in Caxito, Eduardo Adriano, Emergency Vaccination Programme started on 1st July aiming at immunising all children of the eight districts of Bengo Province, who have not been vaccinated
during regular vaccination campaigns.

 

To this end, he said that conditions are created for the success of the campaign, being already available 12 vaccines against polio, measles, tetanus and yellow fever.

 

According to the official, during the last campaign at least 71,114 children under the age of five were vaccinated in the districts of Dande, Bengo and Icolo, Ambriz, Nambuangongo, Aluquem-Pango, Kissama, Dembos and Bula-Atumba.
