Luanda – The United States of America started donating, as from this year, to the Angolan government USD 32 million, an increased sum compared to last year’s USD 18 million, as part of the Malaria Fight Programme in Angola.

In an interview to the media, the US ambassador Dan Mozena, said that his government in partnership with some national and international NGOs, have played an important role in activities of preventing and controlling malaria in the country.

Despite the mortality rate decreasing in the last two years, he stated, the current situation on malaria in Angola urges a lot of attention, a reason why the US government increased the amount of financing.

Dan Mozena said that great victory has already been witnessed in reduced cases, that as moved from four to three million, registered in the last few years.

The outgoing ambassador stated that the US government’s programmes include education, awareness campaigns, HIV/AIDS tests, among other projects for health and social issues.
