Luanda - The provincial governor of Luanda, Francisca do Espírito Santo, Friday here considered as indispensable the support of the World Health Organisation (WHO) for the eradication of poliomyelitis in Angola.
Speaking to the press at the end of a meeting with WHO officials, the governor said that the world organisation’s support is very important, as it covers not only technical assistance but also methodological orientation.
According to her, the support will help the authorities of the countries to work within established norms, taking into account Angolan Government’s policy. Cases of poliomyelitis are currently still recorded in the cities of Luanda (capital), Benguela and Lobito.
According to the official, in order for this goal, outlined by WHO, a group of experts of the organisation is working in Luanda since Wednesday to strengthen partnership with the Government in the preparation of the next vaccination campaigns set for May this year.
