Caxito - The oil company Chevron, the government's partner in combat malaria, has released USD 5 million to fight against the disease in Angola, disclosed Thursday, in northern Bengo province the firm's official Carlos Gonçalves.
Speaking on the sidelines of the closing ceremony of the first entomology course, Carlos Gonçalves explained that the funding enabled the acquisition and distribution of 440,000 impregnated mosquito nets.
After pledging his company's availability to cooperate with the Angolan government's efforts in fighting against the disease, the Carlos Gonçalves quoted some 847 women and 238 children as having benefited from medical treatment from 2008.
The first entomology course held in Caxito, Bengo province, that ended Thursday aimed to capacity-building of the country's health experts.
Addressing the closing ceremony, the Health minister, José Van-Dúnem, reiterated Angolan government's efforts in fighting malaria.
