Vaccination campaign against rabies next week in Luanda

Luanda – A broad campaign of vaccination against rabies in Luanda will be held as from next week.

This was said on Wednesday by the deputy director general for veterinary services, Bernadete Santana.

The information was announced at the end of a meeting of assessment of the epidemiological situation of H1N1 flu and rabies in the country, coordinated by the Agriculture minister, Pedro Canga.

Since the beginning of the vaccination campaign, 26,000 animals were vaccinated, a figure Bernadete Santana considered as satisfactory, due to people’s response to the programme.

From January to March 9, the health authorities record 23 cases.

Luanda has recorded nine cases, Huambo and Bié (4), Kwanza Norte ( 2), Bengo, Benguela, Kwanza Sul and Uíge (1).

Cabinda, Cunene, Huíla, Kuando Kubando , Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul, Malanje, Moxico, Namibe and Zaire have not recorded any cases.
