Physician asks for more support to fight malaria

Cabinda – The increasing rate of malaria in the northern Cabinda province, mainly within children, is due to the reduced number of prevention and fighting programmes against this illness, a health source has announced.

The acting clinical director of the local main hospital, Francisco Moreira, acknowledged this fact on Wednesday, adding the health sector and the department of public health should create more programmes for distribution of mosquito nets to avoid that population get the disease.

"We call for an urgent support, because malaria in Cabinda has become the illness that claims more lives. It is necessary to prevent the infection, fighting the areas of reproduction of the vector", he said.
