Over 300 cases of tuberculosis reported in Bie

Kuito – At least 340 new cases of tuberculosis were notified in the central province of Bie by the health authorities during the third quarter of 2009.

 

The information was released on Thursday in the city of Kuito by the provincial supervisor, Isaías José Chicapa Lemos when presenting the epidemiologic situation of the province.

 

The head said that among the registered cases are 209 patients with positive Basilloscopy, 55 with extra-pulmonary tuberculosis, 4 with relapse, 7 reappearance and three with failure.

 

In the same period, the health authorities recovered 150 patients, 27 patients abandoned treatment because of various motives and 15 died.
