Over 1000 cases of respiratory infection recorded in Cunene

 

 


Ondjiva – The Ondjiva central hospital (southern Cunene province) recorded 1,665 new cases of acute respiratory infections over the last four months, which resulted in 41 deaths, Angop learnt Wednesday from a source of the institution.

 


According to a provincial hospital source, the new cases of respiratory infections affect mainly children aged less than five years.

 


The hospital official, Hilário Ndeudalela, informed that in the said period, 17,673 cases of malaria were recorded, 79 of which resulted in death. The statistics included 1,559 cases of diarrhoea, with 19 deaths, mostly children below five years of age.
