Cabinda – A mobile clinic has been set up by the northern Cabinda province department of the Ministry of Social Welfare (Minars), to welcome and vaccinate Angolans recently expelled from the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Speaking to Angop, the head of the public health and control of diseases of the province’s health department, Henri Fuete da Costa, said the mobile clinic will be open 24 hours a day.
It will be working in coordination with the northern Cabinda province hospital, and support of laboratory technicians and nurses with the Broad Vaccination Programme (PAV).
The clinic will provide medicines like coartem (malaria), antihistaminic (allergies), antibiotics and vaccines.
Repatriated people will be entitled to medical consultation, laboratory tests and treatment of malaria, as well as vaccination against measles and yellow fever, for children less than five years of age.
The children are also taking vitamin A and albendazol for parasite cleansing.
Expectant mothers are taking tetanus vaccine.
