Over 73 areas cleared of landmines in Bié province

Luanda - At least 73 areas in the central Bie province were demined between 2006 and 2008, on Wednesday said the local governor, Cândida Celeste.


Speaking to press, at the opening act of the second national meeting on demining taking place in Luanda, she said that 14 out of the mentioned areas were concluded in 2009.


According to her, most of the areas of the province have already been cleared of landmines, being the main concern Andulo/Kungi road until Buim river, where there was recorded a greater intensity of the armed conflict.


Participants in the gathering are members of the executive commission for demining and of the central operative body, commands of the military regions, representatives of the national institute of demining, among others.
