Ruling party denounces opposition disorder plans

Luanda – The ruling MPLA party politburo secretary for Information, Rui Falcão, Thursday in Luanda charged that some political parties are preparing demonstrations and disorder for August 12 and 28, with a view to distabilising the whole electoral process.

Speaking at a press conference meant to assess the first seven days of his party’s election campaign, Rui Falcão said MPLA has learned that a disorder plan is in motion.

“Obviously, we will follow these moves, aware that we do not accept them and have nothing to do with them,“ he stated.

The politician said as well it is up to the competent organs of the State to act in strict compliance with the law and, if necessary, to restore public order and tranquillity.

"We have a number of other information that we will immediately lodge with the competent organs of the State for analysis and treatment as our campaign continues", he stated.

Rui Falcão said that MPLA is aware that besides what is aired during airtime, the opposition UNITA party has been organising some militants in Andulo, Kuimba and other localities of the national territory for the staging of disorder, clashes and aggressions against militants of the ruling party.

"We have been denouncing for some time this situation and there are UNITA militants who have been denouncing these cases for about a year and now we can see that those denounces were true, as that type of behaviour starts to be visible,” he also stated.

On the other hand, Rui Falcão commented on the truth in reports by certain privately-owned papers that the ruling MPLA party secretary general, Dino Matrosse, has been bribed into promoting some people.

He said on the occasion that the party leadership has analysed what he called defamation and will, either through the offended party itself or through the organisation, resort to the judicial organs.

According to the politician, it is sad for MPLA that the opposition takes advantage of the ongoing electoral campaign to utter this kind of defamation, direct slander and, moral offence against the integrity of people.
