Luanda - The National Assembly approved Thursday in Luanda the Organic Laws of the Attorney General's Office and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, National Security, Defence and the Angolan Armed Forces.
The meeting also approved the laws on the Interior Protection, Preservation of State Security and amending Article 56 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Presided over by Parliament Speaker, António Paulo Kassoma, the participants at th 12th Plenary Session unanimously okayed the Organic Law of the Attorney General's Office and Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Proposed initially as the Organic Law of the Attorney General’s Office, the MPs changed its name, making it more comprehensive, because it integrates the status of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The main innovation of the Bill is related to the enlargement of the organic structure of the Attorney Generals Office with the creation of national departments of Investigation and Criminal Action and Prevention and Combating Corruption.
On the other hand, the Parliamentarians voted Basic Law of National Security, conformed to the Constitution, with 154 votes and 19 abstentions.
The MPs also approved the Law on Preservation of State security, with153 votes in favour, non against and 18 abstentions, under constitution
The objective of the law is to safeguard the Democratic and Law abiding State.
