Luanda - Issues related to bilateral cooperation between Angola and Gabon were addressed Tuesday, in Luanda, during an audience that the Angolan Vice President, Fernando da Piedade dos Santos, granted to the Foreign minister of Gabon, Emmanuel Issoze-Ngondet.

In the end, on a statement to the press, the Gabonese diplomat, who came to Luanda as a special envoy of the Gabonese President, Ali Bongo, considered the meeting with the Angolan Vice President “warm and constructive”, adding that it also enabled to assess the presence of the two countries in the African Union.

With regard to bilateral cooperation with Angola, the Gabonese minister pointed out that they exist in various fields, with main focus on transport and infrastructures.

With regard to the African Union (AU), Emmanuel Issoze-Ngondet said he discussed with the Angolan Vice President the matter relating to the Summit of this institution to be held on July 15-16, which has as its main point the election of the AU’s new president.

The Gabonese diplomat’s visit comes at a time that the Southern African Development Community (SADC) has been making contacts to obtain support for the candidate of the regional organisation to the post of chairperson of the African Union Commission, namely the South African Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
