Luanda – The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georges Chikoty, arrived on Wednesday afternoon in Luanda from Johannesburg, where he attended the meeting of Political, Defence and Security Body (Troika) of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), aimed to analyse the organisation candidacy to the presidency of African Union (AU).
Speaking to Angop, Georges Chikoty said that despites the troika lobbies, SADC has obtained 30 votes in favour for its candidacy to AU presidency and it is an important figure placed in undefined area; those ones that are considered to vote against the organisation.
According to him, Angola coordinated the campaign that was distributed in teams and this week it will be paid visits to the 54 member countries of African Union.
Troika is a SADC body entitled to seek solutions for conflicts and crises in the countries of the region.
AU next summit will take place on 15-16 July in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
