Church leader stresses people capacity to hold elections


Luanda - The Angolan people have acquired maturity and able to hold successful elections, without a setbacks, said Manuel Inocencio de Sousa, bishop of the Union of Holy Spirit Churches (UIESA).


Speaking to Angop on the role played by the civil society in the electoral process underway in the country, the church leader said that the people of Angola have been doing their best to keep democracy in the country.


"We are a peaceful people. We had elections and we believe to have gained maturity at the level of holding successful elections", stressed the prelate.


According to Manuel Inocêncio de Sousa, the church often worked toward mobilisation of the faithful.


He said that to this reason UIESA is promoting some activities such as seminars and lectures on the role of the citizen related to the elections.
