Luanda
Political parties have ten days to correct irregularities

Luanda – The 27 political parties and coalitions that formalised their intention to participate in the general elections, set for 31 August this year, are urged by the Constitutional Court to correct any possible irregularities in their candidacy, until 29 June.

The information was given last Wednesday, in Luanda, at a press conference, by the counsellor-judge of the Constitutional Court, Onofre dos Santos.

He explained that the irregularities or insufficiencies in question refer to the process handed out in the court for formalisation of candidacies for this year’s polls, giving example of situations such as the need to replace a candidate.

He also informed that as from Friday (June 22) the Court will publish, both in its premises and in the website ww.tribunalconstitucional.ao, the lists with the names of all candidates of all parties and coalitions.

He went on saying that on 22-23 June any party is free to file a suit against any allegedly irregular candidacy.

Onofre dos Santos said that the process might be concluded by 06 July, so that on the seventh his institution can pass the information to the National Electoral Commission, for the publication of the final lists.

The Constitutional Court received, until the last day of the deadline (19 June), the candidacies for the general elections of 19 political parties and 8 coalitions.
