Luanda – The South African delegation left Luanda Thursday after attending the first meeting of Angola/South Africa Bilateral Defence Committee, held from 12 to 14 June.
Speaking to the press at Luanda's "4 de Fevereiro" International Airport, the head of the delegation, general of National Defence Forces of South Africa, Solly Z. Shake, said the visit to Angola served to strengthen cooperation ties and the existing agreements between the two countries.
According to him, the most important was the launching of foundations to develop the cooperation in the field of the sector.
“There is an action programme on how to implement the cooperation. Therefore, the parties will work hard toward its implementation", stressed the South African senior officer.
The South African delegation was seen off at airport by general Peregrino Huambo, assistant to the chief of Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces, among other high ranking officers.
During his stay in Luanda, the General Solly Shake was received in private by his Angolan counterpart, Cândido Pereira Van-Dúnem.
