Luanda - The Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, Wednesday in Luanda reaffirmed the Government’s readiness to release the funds for the National Electoral Commission (CNE) to prepare the general elections of August 31 in the country.
José Educardo was speaking at the opening of the 5th ordinary session of the ruling MPLA party’s Central Committee.
He on the occasion recalled that the CNE must prepare the Register containing the names of the voters and mentioning the locations of the Polling Stations.
The CNE must also distribute to those locations the register, according to the places chosen by the voters to cast their ballot, the president also recalled.
The CNE shall also have as one of its tasks to arrange for the manufacture of the Ballot Papers and Boxes, as well as all matters concerning the electoral logistics, Eduardo dos Santos also stated.
According to him, the Government has already expressed its readiness to support the CNE on the above tasks and on the security to speed up the allocation of the funds for the electoral process.
José Eduardo dos Santos further recalled that in terms of the Constitution of the Republic of Angola, the term of the Parliament and Government will terminate on September 30 this year.
He also stated that the election for the MPs for the new legislature and the President of the Republic and Head of the Executive shall take place 30 days ahead of end of the above mentioned term.
