Luanda - The Republics of Angola and Italy Thursday, in Luanda, signed a public security cooperation agreement.

 
The document was signed by the Angolan Home minister and his Italian counterpart, Sebastiao Martins and Anna Maria Concellieri, respectively.

 
The two countries have chosen as areas of cooperation in the fight against organized crime, people trafficking and illicit diamond trading, arms trafficking, training of personnel, among others.

 
The Angolan Minister of Interior, Sebastião Martins, said it was, without doubt, an action of great practical benefit to both people and countries, "because from here, I am sure, we can get significant results in strengthening the traditional ties of friendship and cooperation."

 
According to the government official, the priority areas of cooperation agreement show the concern about the factors that will now pose some insecurity in the world and in the two countries, including the fight against trans-national organized crime, trafficking in human beings and illegal immigration, smuggling of weapons, terrorism and drug trafficking.

 
"There are concerns that today pose a large level of insecurity of our countries, continents and the world itself," noted the minister.

 
To the minister of the Interior, this agreement in fact creates a platform for joint action and cooperation that aims to combat exactly this type of illegalities.

 
As for the staff training, Sebastião Martins said that Angola will capitalise on the great experience of Italy in this field, particularly in the light of practical experience in criminal matters.

 
"We have no doubt that Italy should be the level of European countries and perhaps the world, which has better experience in combating organized crime. It also accumulates a large experience in combating drug trafficking and terrorism (...)," said the minister.

 
Sebastião Martins took the opportunity to thank Italy by being the first Western European country to recognize the independence of Angola, which took place on November 11, 1975.

 
 
In her turn, the Italian Home Affairs minister, Anna Maria Concellieri, assured that her country will put all its experience in the sectors that encompass the agreement so that Angola can also strengthen itself.

 
The Italian official considered Angola as a big and very strong country, and is destined to grow steadily, both in its region or in world.
