Luanda - The secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Angela Bragança, said Thursday in Luanda that the issue of  nuclear safety concerns all the countries of the world.

The diplomat said so shortly after her arrival in Luanda from Fukushima, Japan, where  she attended the Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Safety held from December 15-17.

"The conference was very fruitful, as  participants discussed in depth issues related to the protection of populations in the case of a disaster, since nuclear safety concerns not only a specific country but the whole world," said the official, who called for the need to define measures that promote the protection of persons in the event of disasters.

According to Angela Braganca, Angola is a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency and as such the country participates in the efforts focused on providing nuclear safety and nuclear energy is used for peaceful purposes only.

Also according to the secretary of State, as soon as Angola ratifies the convention framework of the International Atomic Energy Agency it may benefit from staff training in the nuclear field.
