Geneva - A meeting of the Informal Grouping of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Member States was held on Monday this week on the premises of the Angola’s Standing Mission to the United Nations, in Geneva, Switzerland, in the country’s capacity as the regional organisation’s chair.
The meeting that was convened by the Mission of Consultants of the SADC Secretariat on a Geneva mission, was chaired by Angola’s permanent representative to the United Nations’ Offices and International Organisations, ambassador Apolinário Correia.
The official mission of the SADC Secretariat seized the occasion to consult with the Permanent Missions of the member states, International Organisations and Specialised on the most effective ways and the terms of reference to improve the participation of the regional organisation in regional and multilateral negotiations.
The meeting also served to prepare the SADC Regional Seminar on the Multilateral Trade System, set for March this year in South Africa.
Attending the meeting were the ambassadors of Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe and representatives of Botswana, Lesotho, DR Congo, Tanzania and Swaziland.
