Luanda - The President of Sao Tome and Principe, Manuel Pinto da Costa, defended on Wednesday in Luanda the need of his country to establish a strong partnership with
Angola in view to playing a key role in the Gulf of Guinea region.
Manuel Pinto da Costa said so to journalists at Luanda’s “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport at the end of his two-day official visit paid to Angola.
The statesman considered Angola as the most important partner in the Gulf of Guinea region for the achievement of his goal.
The Sao Tomean President defended a win-win partnership for the two countries and he is
convinced that both nations will seek for specific ways to achieve this goal.
According to him, this partnership is an important factor for the development of Sao Tome and Principe and consolidation of the economic, political and cultural relations between the two countries.
He stressed that Angola and Sao Tome have already a very broad cooperation framework on
various levels.
Sao Tomean Head of State appealed to the economic agents of the two countries to play an
important and decisive role in the consolidation of bilateral relations.
With regard to the reality of Sao Tome and Principe, President Manuel Pinto da Costa said that his country faces a lot of problems related to the development and there are various challenges lying ahead.
However, President Manuel Pinto da Costa invited his Angolan counterpart, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, to visit his country.
