Angolan ambassador visits international court

Hague - The Angolan ambassador to the Netherlands, Luis de Almeida, on Wednesday visited the  International Court of Justice, in the Hague, Holland, and the headquarters of the Organisation for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), ANGOP has learnt.

At the OPCW, the official was received by the institution’s director-general, Ahmet Uzumcu, who said they would like to see  Angola sign and ratify the accord that prohibits the production and use of chemical weapons, thus joining the 188 countries that have already done it.

At the International Court, the Angolan ambassador was received by its head, Hisashi Awada, who leads the organisation since February 06, 2009.

He expressed his satisfaction at the fact that Angola opened an Embassy in the Hague, which in his opinion will facilitate the relationship with institutions based in this city.

The ambassador was invited to witness, on Friday, a session of the mentioned organ.
