Construction work of Peace Monument ends this month

Luena – The construction work of the Peace Monument, which started in October 2009, is 95 percent done and scheduled to finish this month, ANGOP learnt from the Korean contractor in charge of the work.

According to a source from the Korean company, who passed the information during an assessment visit of the country’s Vice President, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, the moment is receiving the final touches, which includes painting, placing of lamps and construction of pavements.

The source explained that the monument is about 30 metres tall and is made up of copper and iron. It has two arms holding a white dove which symbolises Peace.

Meanwhile, the country’s Vice President accompanied by the provincial governor, João Ernesto dos Santos “Liberdade”, visited three blocks which make up the infrastructure that includes green areas and other leisure places.
