Luanda - Angolan president, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, Monday in Luanda appointed gen. Geraldo Sachipengo Nunda as new chief of staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), in replacement of gen. Francisco Pereira Furtado at the end of a four years mandate.
Gen. Sachipengo Nunda, a former deputy FAA chief of staff was replaced by gen. Jorge Barros Nguto.
In another decree, the president appointed Sebastiao Jose Antonio Martins to the post of minister of Interior, in replacement of Roberto Leal Monteiro Ngongo, dismissed last Tuesday.
Also on Monday, the Ministry of State for Economic Coordination was abolished by a presidential decree and incumbent minister, Manuel Nunes Junior, was dismissed to take a prominent job in another institution, according to a press communique issued by the Presidency's Aide Services.
A newly created Ministry of Economy is to be headed by the governor of Angola's Central Bank (BNA), Abraao Pio dos Santos Gourgel, replaced by Jose de Lima Massano, while the former secretary of State in the abolished Economic Coordination Ministry, Job Graça, was appointed deputy Planning minister for Macro-Economic affairs.
Gen. Eduardo de Almeida Ferreira Martins was removed as deputy Interior minister for Migration and Border Affairs and Laura Maria Alcantara Monteiro dismissed as deputy Central Bank governor.
