Benguela - Angola's deputy minister of Home Affairs, Angelo Barros Veigas Tavares, is working on Saturday in Ganda and Cubal districts, central Benguela province, where he will assess the conditions of local prisons, ANGOP has learnt.

On Friday, the first day of the visit, the official and his team visited the Cavaco prison, having noticed the various initiatives carried out at the prison.

Through the printing press of the institution, the detainees produce office materials that are sold in the local market, with its financial revenues to serve to improve the hygienic and nourishment conditions.

The Benguela (Cavaco) prison also has a wood workshop, tailoring shop, sheds and bakeries where the inmates learn how to produce materials for the institution.

Cavaco prison has over 1,800 inmates, 300 more in comparison to the real capacity.
