Angolan, Portuguese leaders concerned about situation in Guinea-Bissau

Luanda – The Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos said in Luanda that he agreed with his counterpart of Portugal, Aníbal Cavaco Silva, efforts to help Guinea Bissau to find ways for a full functioning of democratic institutions and the cession of
interference from the army in the political sphere of the State.


 
José Eduardo dos Santos was speaking at a press conference to assess his meeting with the Portuguese president, Aníbal Cavaco Silva.


 
At the meeting, he said, “we exchanged views about the role of Angola in the Central and Southern Africa, the internationalization of the Portuguese language and the reforms in the United Nations (UN)”.

 

In the viewpoint of José Eduardo dos Santos this visit will give a great impetus to the strengthening of friendship ties between Angola and its former colonial power.
