Luanda - Angola transferred Friday the presidency of the Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP) to Mozambique, during the 12th Summit of the organisation.

This was announced at the end of PALOP summit held in the Angolan capital.

During the meeting, the organisation's leaders also condemned the terrorist attacks perpetrated in Kampala, Uganda.

They also appealed to the UN Security Council to maintain its leadership role in keeping the peace and international security, particularly the support to Observation Mission of the African Union in Somalia (AMISOM) and the transitional government in the East African country.

The Statesmen also expressed concern about devastating effects of the world economic crisis in economic engagement of the African countries and agreed on the need to strive for consolidation and strengthening of integration and regional cooperation. 

The summit gathered presidents José Eduardo dos Santos (Angola), Pedro Pires (Cape Verde), Malam Bacai Sanha(Guinea Bissau), Armando Guebuza (Mozambique) and Fradique de Menezes (Sao Tome and Principe).
