President reaffirms support for Western Sahara self-determination

Luanda -The head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, Thursday reaffirmed the support of the Angolan people and government for the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence within the framework of agreements signed under the aegis of the United Nations (UN).
 

The message is contained in the final communiqué of the visit of the president of Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz, released today, Thursday in Luanda.

 
According to the document, the two heads of State reviewed the situation in Western Sahara and expressed concern with the situation prevailing in the territory.

 
The two leaders also discussed at the meeting held in private the political, military and security situation on the African continent and the world, as well as issues of bilateral interest.

 
Mohamed Abdelaziz thanked the Angolan people and the Executive for the ongoing support of solidarity to the cause of the Sahrawi people and congratulated the Angolan head of State on the progress achieved in the fields of peace, democracy and national reconstruction.

 
The important role that José Eduardo dos Santos has played in promoting and defending the interests of the peoples of the continent was also greeted by the Polisario Front's leader, reads the document.
 

At the end, the leader of the Polisario Front expressed its thanks to his Angolan counterpart for brotherly and friendly reception reserved to him and his delegation, as well as by working conditions available to the delegation during its visit.

 
The President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic ended today (Thursday) the two-day official visit to Angola, part of the friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries.
