Awareness campaign on danger of landmines defended

 

Ondjiva – Landmines awareness campaigns in the communities is a major factor for the success of demining process, informed Thursday in Ondjiva, Cunene Province, the acting director of the De-mining National Institute in Cunene (INAD), Fernando Katiavala.


Fernando Katiavala revealed that the campaign is taking place in rural areas suspected of having landmines, at the same time searching to keep citizens explained and informed on how to act when in these areas.


This practice aims at avoiding possible accidents among the population, since it is a continuous activity and fundamental for the success of mines clearing operations.


According to the director, awareness campaign is part of INAD operative plan in Cunene, having at the first four months informed children, youths and adults of rural and urban areas on the danger of landmines.
