MPs defend need to correct Teachers Career Statute

Luanda – MPs with the National Assembly’s sixth commission on Wednesday in Luanda highlighted the need for corrections to be made on the implementation of the Teachers Career Statute.

According to the spokeswoman of the sub-commission for education, science and technology, Guilhermina Manuel, on a visit carried out Wednesday to the Board of Education of Luanda, the parliamentarians learnt that about 4000 teachers are either in the wrong category or inappropriately graded.

Guilhermina Manuel also defended that there has to be an articulation between the ministries of Territory Administration, Public Administration and Employment, Finances, and the Education Ministry, for a better control of the teaching career.

She stressed the need for continuous training of teachers, so they can be well prepared for the ongoing reform process in this sector, aiming for an education system with greater and greater quality.

On the other hand, the MPs considered it important a relationship between schools and firms, so that students can be sent out on job placement for training.

From 09 to 17 March the parliamentarians also visited several secondary schools of Luanda.

Next Monday, the MPs are scheduled to visit the country’s first University Campus, being built in the capital city.
