Luanda – The energy sector’s strategic investment portfolio for the 2009/2016 period, was submitted to the Cabinet Council Standing Commission that recommended measures towards the best financial solutions to projects.
The Standing Commission also recommended the gradual introduction of a new model of tariffs, with the view to the creation of conditions to secure self-financing for the expansion of the electrical sector, involving the private sector.
On the other hand, the Government was informed about the memorandum of understanding between the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo and Cabinda Gulf Oil Company Ltd, authorising the gas pipeline across Zaire river through the DRC territorial waters.
The Commission was also informed about the progress in the fourth quarter of 2009 of the Angola/LNG natural gas project under construction in Soyo district, northern Zaire province.
The Commission analysed the cooperation accord in the domain of air transports between the governments of Angola and Russia, aimed at boosting trade between the two countries.
It also analysed the memorandum on the functioning of the private institutions that provide medical assistance in urban and high density areas and recommended measures to prevent and fight public health infringements and guarantee service quality.
The organ of the Government also recommended the approval of the presidential decree on the National Pharmaceutical Policy, an instrument that sets the State’s regulating and normative role concerning production, import, control of quality and commerce of medicine in the country.
On the other hand, the Commission authorised the payment of costs associated with the participation of Angola in the “Kwanza2010” military exercises, scheduled for May in Cabo Ledo, northern Bengo province.
The exercises are intended to check the state of readiness of the Economic Community of Central Africa States (Eccas) Brigade.
The Government’s Standing Commission was also briefed on the measures underway to regularise the payment of salaries of public servants for February this year.
The Commission also learned of the measures taken by the Government to assist the victims of the rains in the provinces of Kuando Kubango, Kwanza Norte, Cunene, Moxico and Uíge.
