Angola
Vice president expected back next week

Luanda – The vice president of the Republic, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, is expected back in the country from London next week, following a private visit.

Speaking on the “Televisão Publica de Angola” station on Wednesday, in reaction to his nomination, on the State Gazette, to coordinate the country’s social sphere, Fernando da Piedade said any sector placed under his responsibility is important.

"In my opinion, all areas are important, but we have to highlight the areas of education and health, if we are to develop the country, due to its direct involvement in the formation of men and in the maintenance of the citizens’ health”, he said.

He stated he was ready for his new mission, after the private visit to Britain, adding he is getting ready to take up the responsibilities of the post.

Fernando da Piedade stated that he used the private visit to Britain for routine medical check-ups and rest a bit before taking up the new functions for which he was invested on February 5 this year.

On the other hand, the vice president congratulated the Angolan women on the celebration of the International Women Day, March 8.
