Luanda - The Angolan Parliament speaker, Paulo Kassoma, Tuesday in Lisbon, Portugal, acknowledged that strengthened cooperation among the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) requires increased and reciprocal movement of people and goods.
The National Assembly speaker said so while delivering the topic "Strengthening of cooperation in the framework of the CPLP" during the II Parliamentary Assembly of the CPLP running from Monday in Lisbon, Portugal.
Paulo Kassoma said he is aware of trends coupled with some complexities recorded in the free movement of people, given the varying levels of development amongst member States and immigration policies ensuring social stability.
Despite the fact that the immigration phenomenon has become a global problem, the Parliament speaker said he believes that it is necessary to consider solutions that ensure the interests of the eight-member States. "There have been positive spaces in this direction, but we are still failing to meet all expectations".
The speaker expressed his conviction that the creation of the CPLP's Parliament will enable another treatment to the issue.
"Trade, business cooperation in various fields, social solidarity, demand for technical and academic training, qualified medical assistance and tourism involve the movement of people and goods, which need practical and balanced solutions, "stressed the speaker, who also listed the consolidation of relations between member countries and support to the public and private business.
On the other hand, Paulo Kassoma called for a special attention to the organisation of the civil society, due to their role in the consolidation of democracy.
The Angolan Parliamentary delegation includes MPs Luís Reis Cuanga, João Melo, Cristóvão da Cunha, Lúcia Tomás and Lukamba Gato.
CPLP groups Angola, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau, Sao Tome and Principe, Cape Verde, Brazil, Portugal and East Timor.
