Luanda - The speaker of the Angolan Parliament, António Paulo Kassoma, on Friday here reaffirmed the accomplishment of commitments assumed internationally under the development of matters linked to gender, Angop has learnt.
Paulo Kassoma said so at the opening ceremony of a round-table on the Role of Parliaments towards the Respect of Women Rights, 15 Years After Beijing, held to salute International Woman Day, March 08.
He highlighted the country's active participation in Beijing conference, as well as the regular interventions in the United Nations (UN) forums, the Commission for Woman Condition, Parliamentary Union, the Portuguese-Speaking Countries Community and the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC).
Paulo Kassoma also reminded that it has been recorded a greater participation of women in the various decision-taking organs, improvement in participation in electoral processes and prevention of conflicts.
The Parliament speaker also mentioned actions by MPs so that the state budget has a component of development of female gender, through promotion of literacy, promotion of rural woman, social reinsertion, granting of credits, technical-professional training, arts, as well as reproducing and maternal infantile health.
He also said that the parliament played a role of advocacy and interactive actions with members of the Angolan Cabinet and the civil society, meant the updating of the bill on domestic and intra-familiar violence.
