Army chief of staff visited flood hit Cunene province

 
Ondjiva - The chief of staff of the angolan armed forces, Gen. Francisco Pereira Furtado, today assessed the situation prevailing in military units in the southern Cunene province aiming at the implementation of new infra-structures for the military services in the region.


Addressing the press at the end of the visit, Gen. Furtado stated that his visit also aimed assessing the situation following the devastation of region by floods pledging the angolan armed forces leadership commitment in the rehabilitation of its units countrywide and improve the living conditions of stationed soldiers.


He said that the armed forces are fully cooperating with the civil protection program backing the local government efforts to mitigate the effects of the calamities, mainly supporting the relocation of the victims with helicopters and boats.  


During the visit, the army top officer met provincial governor, António Didalelwa and visit the flood devastated communes of Mupa and Evale.
