Luanda - The National Assembly (Angolan Parliament) speaker, Paulo Kassoma, Wednesday, in Lisbon, Portugal, said that he is optimistic about the results of the Second Parliamentary Assembly of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (CPLP), that will enable a better internal structure of the organ.
Speaking to journalists at the end of the meeting, Paulo Kassoma said he was pleased that measures have been developed that will allow the next Summit of Heads of State of the Community to be held this year in Luanda, to count on an interventional arliamentary structure, assisting in the search for more effective mechanisms that allow the implementation of decisions taken at government level.
At the meeting, he said it was possible to comply with certain guidelines from the first Parliamentary Assembly, held in Sao Tome and Principe last year, that have not been implemented during the previous period, such as the creation of working committees.
Therefore, he stressed in some way the session met the expectations, because its recommendations will initiate the procedures for internal structuring of the Assembly, to highlight the importance of its presence in the organs of the CPLP.
Despite the advances achieved, Paulo Kassoma said he believes that much still needs to be done to structure a sound and appropriate intervention of parliament within the community.
Thus, the leader of the Angolan parliament expressed the wish, until the next Assembly, to be held in Dili, East Timor, for the completion and consolidation of the internal structure.
According to Paulo Kassoma, this Second Parliamentary Assembly of the CPLP was the underlying need for greater commitment by governments to implement policies set by the organization.
The Second Assembly of the CPLP had its beginning on Monday and ordered the creation of three specialized standing committees, namely "Policy, Strategy, Law, Citizenship and Movement", "Economy, Environment and Co-operation and" Language, Education, Science and Culture, "in the shortest time. These committees should meet in the intervals of the Parliamentary Assembly.
Angola participated at the meeting with a delegation headed by the National Assembly speaker, Paulo Kassoma, and included MPs Cristóvão da Cunha, Joao Melo, Luís Reis Cuanga, Lucia Tomas and Lukamba Paulo Gato.
