Luanda - The Angolan Head of State José Eduardo dos Santos Wednesday in Luanda was informed on the important role of Angola in search for the solution of peace and stability in the region, by the Troika delegation for Great Lakes region.
This was stated during an audience the Angolan president granted to the US envoy, Howard Wolpe, head of the delegation, African Union (AU) representative, Dumisani Kumalo and the European Union, Roeland Van Geer.
Speaking to journalists at the end of the 45-minute meeting, the diplomats expressed the need to restore the peace in the Great Lakes region which will greatly contribute to the development, in general, of the African continent.
According to the African diplomat, during the "courtesy" meeting with the Angolan Head of State the Great Lakes representatives pledged that "everything is being done with view to find the stability in Democratic Republic of Congo."
To him, the stability in the Central Africa country can be reflected in the development of the region while the instability can decant to the neighbouring states borders.
"We have come to brief the President on the ongoing work and of course we join you in this task,"asserted Dumisani Kumalo, who added that the DR Congo needs peace and stability for the overall functioning of its institutions.
In his turn the EU representative, Van Geer, said that his institution is optimistic about a lasting peace in the region.
When this fact becomes reality the European Union will "fully cooperate in the development programme outlined by the Congolese officials.
