Parliament elects new speaker Tuesday

 

Luanda – The National Assembly (Angolan Parliament) is holding its seventh ordinary plenary session on Tuesday in Luanda, to elect the new speaker, in replacement of Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos.


In the light of the new Constitution, the Angolan president, José Eduardo dos Santos, appointed António Paulo Kassoma as new speaker.


The meeting is also aimed at reshuffling MPs, as some have been appoint to hold Government positions.


The former speaker, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, has been appointed vice president of the Republic of Angola.
