Luanda - MPs with the National Assembly on Tuesday here expressed confidence in the capacity of the new leader of this institution, António Paulo Kassoma, to increase its prestige as a legislative organ and monitor of the activity of state administration.
Speaking to ANGOP after the ceremony of electing the parliament speaker, the MP of the ruling MPLA party, Diógenes de Oliveira said that judging by his curriculum, Paulo Kassoma has all the tools to proceed with the work started by Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos.
"Considering that he was prime minister and has knowledge on the main problems of the government, I believe that there wouldn’t be a better choice, therefore, we are hopefull that everything will continue normally", he said.
He referred that all members of parliament have the duty of serving unconditionally the new leadership in order for the National Assembly to continue improving its performance as the monitor of legality in the country.
"He is a promising man, well-know by the people due to the various posts he held in the government, thereby, we are convinced that the choice was well made", assured another MP with the MPLA party, Zau Puna.
He said that he sure that Paulo Kassoma will instruct MPs to carry out tasks of the National Assembly and help the ruling party fulfil the objectives promised during the 2008 legislative elections.
To the MP with the main opposition UNITA party, Jaka Jamba, judging by the election result, absolute majority, there is an acceptance base that will enable the new speaker to proceed with the mission of the parliament.
