Defence minister pledges to comply with president's guidelines

 

 

Luanda – The new National Defence minister, Cândido Pereira dos Santos Van-Dúnem, who was appointed Friday in Luanda, said  Monday here that the baselines of his ministry correspond to the guidelines outlined by Angolan president, José Eduardo dos Santos.


The official said so while speaking to the press after the ceremony of inauguration of the appointed Government officials, in the light of Angola’s new Constitution promulgated by the head of State on Friday in Luanda.


Cândido Pereira dos Santos said that the pertinent readjustments in the field of the Ministry of the National Defence regarding the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) will be integrated in the strategy of the Government’s national plan.


Regarding control of Angolan borders, the minister said that his ministry will continue to abide by the excellent and strict responsibility established by the law.


“This is our duty and we will continue to assume our responsibilities”, he said.


Nevertheless, the Defence minister said that there are actions and some of them are under implementation regarding the process of reorganisation of the Angola Armed Forces (FAA).
