Ruling party MP highlights beginning of liberation struggle

 


Huambo – A member of the parliament with the ruling MPLA party bench, Edith Manuel Filipe, Monday in central Huambo province stressed the importance of  4 February in the conquest of national independence, November 11, 1975.

 


Speaking to Angop, Edith Filipe said that, the 4 February 1961 marks the struggle for freedom of Angolan citizens against Portuguese colonial yoke that led to the national independence, achieved thanks to the courage and sacrifice demonstrated by many Angolan sons and daughters.

 


According to the MP, peace and independence enable the government to improve the people's living standards.

 


In her turn, the provincial director of family and woman promotion, Maria do Rosário Amadeu, said that 4 February marked the beginning of the conquest of freedom of Angolans.

 


Today we live in a sovereign country and it is up to the Angolan people to decide their destinies.

 


In her turn, Ana Paula de Carvalho, provincial director of Urbanisation and Environment, also praised the engagement of group of courageous Angolans.

 


She noted that the national independence turned Angola into a good place to live.
