Luanda – The National Police have kept on standby all their officers for the security of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations (Angola2010) the country will host from January 10-31 in Luanda, Benguela, Cabinda and Lubango cities, Angop learnt.
The information was released Wednesday in Luanda by the Police deputy commander, Commissioner Paulo de Almeida, while presenting the corporation’s programme of action for a successful security of the African championship.
"In principle, all police officers are mobilised to provide security for the CAN2010.
Obviously, the CAN will be held in the provinces of Luanda, Benguela, Huila and Cabinda only, but the others will also remain on standby, in case of need for any reinforcement for the officers in the above mentioned provinces", he said.
According to him, this reinforcement will be made in view of the situation, that is the dynamics resulting thereof. “If the situation becomes worrying, we might then attract effectives from the other provinces for reinforcement(…)”, he said.
The source also said that the police have since long been trained for the security of great events, adding the forces have been upgraded for the Orange-Angola.
