Two foreign ships arrested in Angolan waters

Soyo – Two foreign ships that were illegally fishing in the Angolan territorial waters were arrested by the National Navy (MGA) .

The information was released Thursday in Soyo, northern Zaire province, by the regional acting chief of Staff of the Angola Navy (MGA), Augusto Paulo.

According to Augusto Paulo, the said ships, with eight crew of Chinese nationality and eight of Congolese (Brazzaville), were caught 200 miles north of the Angolan coast, when they were seized by a MGA patrol.

The arrested ships were fishing in an area regarded as of economic reserve, situated between the oil blocks 15 and 16 of the Angolan offshore.

Augusto Paulo stated as well that the captain of one of the ships comes from Ponta Negra, Congo-Brazaville, which is the main destination market for the fish.
