Luanda - Ruling MPLA secretary-general, Julião Mateus Paulo "Dino Matross", said on Thursday that the measures taken by the Angolan government to deal with the world financial crisis have enabled his organisation to fulfil the main goals outlined on the party's electoral programme.
Dino Matross, who was speaking at the closing act of the 10th provincial conference of the MPLA provincial committee of Luanda, said despite the crisis that is hitting the world, the government is still working to increase jobs, implementation of social housing, health, education, fight against famine and misery.
Among the measures taken by the government are the revision of the National Plan and the State Budget for 2009.
"All these challenges should motivate us to increase the organisational capacity and the party's dynamic at all levels, in order to increase systematically MPLA's role and influence on the Angolan society", he said.
Dino Matross also said that other challenges for the party's militants is the continual mobilisation of the society for the process of concluding the democratic transition, that includes the consolidation of democracy and the constitutional transition.
Thus, he highlighted the importance of the approval of the bill for the new constitution presented by the MPLA (parliamentary-presidentialism) as it is the most coherent and matches the Angolan reality.
The 10th balance and renewal of mandate conference, held under the organic process of the preparation of the party's sixth congress set for December this year.
At the meeting, Bento Francisco Sebastião Bento "Bento Bento" was re-elected as MPLA first secretary for Luanda Province.
