Cabinda -The majority of Angolan nationals expelled from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) through the province of Cabinda, including those considered socially and economically reasonable, does not intend to return to the neighbouring country because of the trauma of recent events.
Speaking to Angop, at the weekend, the provincial director of Social Welfare in Cabinda, Aldina Matilde da Lomba, said only a few students show willingness to return because they are carrying out their work for the end of the course.
The official explained that the students interested in returning should do so by their own risk because there are no agreements to that effect between the governments of Angola and DRC.
However, despite the understandings that ended the expulsion, the Angolans continue to return, from 6 to 22 of this month returned home about 540 families, total of 2,437 citizens, making 10,437 people since the beginning of the expulsion, said Matilde da Lomba.
The source emphasized that the evacuation has the support of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), through the Air Force, and the provincial governments of Zaire and Cabinda.
Aldina da Lomba acknowledged the gesture of solidarity provided by collective, individual, private and public, who have supported with various goods for the needy returnees.
According to the official, there are 3,995 Angolan refugee centres, 3,000 in Congo Brazzaville and 995 in DRC.
He noted that the process of repatriation of these refugees is planned for December.
